Demographic Research

The demographic research in Slovakia is ongoing at several universities and research workplaces mainly as part of a more broadly determined research.

In 2000, a specialised research demographic workplace called "Demographic Research Centre" was established within the Institute of Informatics and Statistics in Bratislava.

The activity of Demographic Research Centre is focused mainly on the following areas:

• Assessment of the demographic development as well as the evaluation of particular demographic processes, elaboration of analytical and forecast background for the top decision-making bodies
• Preparation of methods, models and tools for demographic analyses, simulations, projections and calculations
• Co-operation in the development of methodology in the field of demography
• Co-ordination of the demographic research in the Slovak Republic.
