In the methodological area, Slovak demographic statistics continues in applying the original principles and in co-operation with the professional workplaces and universities in Slovakia and releases the appropriate methodological guidelines and instructions. The regular publications of the Statistical Office of the SR in the field of demographic statistics are:
The Life Tables for the SR, Regional Life Tables and Marriage Tables for the SR are some examples of specific outputs. The regular releasing and presentation of a complex demographic data file by the means of CD media and the web site of SOSR is under preparation. In addition to the Statistical Office of the SR, also the Institute for Health Information and Statistics acts in the area of demographic statistics. This institute operates as a leading workplace of the Ministry of Health of the SR; within this task it conceptually, methodically and organisationally ensures and controls the process of building and development of the Health Information System. From the survey being carried out under the auspices of this ministry, the Statistical Office of the SR takes over the data on abortion. The Statistical Office of the SR in co-operation with the Ministry of Justice of the SR ensures the processing of statistics on divorce and implements it into the complex of demographic statistics while, at the same time, for the purposes of its internal needs it aggregates the data by the location of the common permanent residence of married couples or the proposer; for the needs of the ministry, the SOSR aggregates the data by the allegiance to the district court. The demographic statistics in the field of data gathering is closely linked to the activities of the Ministry of Interior of the SR in the area of public administration (e.g. registry offices for the registration of births, deaths and solemnised marriages, Migration Office and the Border and Alien Department of the Presidium of the Police Corps of the SR for agenda on refugees and residence of foreigners) and its possibilities are determined by appropriate rules regulating the citizenship rights and the records on the residence of citizens, foreigners and refugees. |
