The future need for care for the elderly is projected using the microsimulation programme DESTINIE. DESTINIE was developed at the French statistical institute INSEE for making French projections. In this project we use Dutch data. The microsimulation model combines demographic data with input on living arrangements and physical limitations, which are derived from the Dutch longitudinal aging study LASA. The project is part of the European Fifth Framework Programme FELICIE (Future Elderly Living Conditions in Europe).
