Michela Camilla Pellicani, University of Bari

On the base of an accurate analysis of the main characteristics of the migratory phenomenon and of its evolution in time, we will try, therefore, to highlight the guidelines of Ilo with particular reference to the Mediterranean area. We will evaluate the efficiency of the action carried out by Ilo in: creating a platform of knowledge to deal with the migratory phenomenon in the globalisation era; improving the comprehension of the impact of migratory policies through research and education activities; reinforcing the international consent in adopting global policies in the field of work migration strengthening the governance of work migration through the development of policies combined with different governments, entrepreneurial organisations and trade unions; promoting and defending human rights and dignified job for migrants encouraging the adoption of international rules.
