Demographic Research Centre
The Demographic Research Centre (DRC) was founded at INFOSTAT in 2000. Ever since, the DRC belongs to the most significant research establishments in the field of demographic research in Slovakia.
Activities of the Demographic Research Centre are focusing mainly on the following areas:
- Assessment of the demographic development as well as the evaluation of particular demographic processes, elaboration of analytical and forecasting background,
- Preparation of methods, models and tools for demographic analyses, simulations, projections and calculations,
- Co-operation in the development of methodology in the field of demographic statistics,
- Co-ordination of the demographic research in Slovakia
The main objective of these activities is to provide a complex, appropriately structured, variant and standby information from field of demography for all institutions, as well as for individual researchers who are dealing with population problems. Results of our research are used mainly in the process of qualified decision making of government bodies in the areas of economic policy, social affairs, employment, education, health, infrastructure, services and urban development. The main user of results of Demographic Research Centre is the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic
